Olympic Gold for Stefan Kraft in the team event

At his second Olympic Games, the several times World Champion and overall World Cup winner Stefan Kraft succeeded in winning his first Olympic medal which shines in gold!

The adventure Olympic Games started for the 28-year-old from Salzburg with the competitions on the normal hill in the Snow Ruyi National Ski Jumping Centre near Zhangjiakou. But the road to Beijing was not an easy one. After several injuries in the summer preparation, a season start with ups and downs and a failed 4 Hills tournament, the 28-year-old took a break from the World Cup and worked out a precise plan with his individual coach Patrick on the way to the Olympic Games. As a result, Stefan Kraft found his stability again and was able to fight his way back within reach of the top in time for the season’s highlight.

Therefore, the good performances in training and qualification in Beijing were a promising confirmation of the upward trend. In difficult wind conditions and icy temperatures Kraft achieved a place in the top 10 in the normal hill competition, on the large hill it was only enough for 13th place. He was within striking distance of the top, but could not show his very best jumps. In the mixed team competition “Krafti” again showed very good jumps, but for Team Austria it was not enough for a podium due to a disqualification of Iraschko-Stolz.

At the end of the Olympic Games, the team competition was on the agenda for the ski jumpers, which was also characterized by difficult conditions. The Austrian team consisting of Stefan Kraft, Daniel Huber, Jan Hörl and Manuel Fettner, however, managed to show consistently good jumps and thus they were crowned team Olympic champions thanks to a masterful team performance!

Olympic gold now also joins the long list of Stefan Kraft’s successes – in addition to World Championship titles, overall World Cup victories and much more, the Olympic medal completes his impressive collection of titles. In addition, the medal is once again a confirmation of his path and a great satisfaction after the difficult course of the season so far.

After a few days at home and a reception with the Austrian Chancellor, the World Cup already continues. In the next few weeks, the Raw Air Tour and the Ski Flying World Championships in Vikersund will be some highlights.

2nd place for Johannes Lamparter at the Nordic Combined Triple in Seefeld

With two victories in Klingenthal and the first-time lead in the overall World Cup, double World Champion Johannes Lamparter came to Seefeld in the yellow bib for the Nordic Combined Triple. The excitement for the first big highlight of the season and then at home in Tyrol was huge despite the ban of spectators. While the 20-year-old Rumer showed himself in top form over the three competition days, the weather did not present itself from its best side.

Already on Friday, the jumping had to be cancelled due to wind and the provisional round had to be used. “Jo” started as fourth on the slope and had a hard fight with his competitors over 7.5 kilometers. In the end, he only had to admit defeat to his two biggest challengers in the overall World Cup – Jarl Magnus Riiber and Vinzenz Geiger.

Also on the second day of the Nordic Combined Triple Johannes Lamparter started from rank 4 and much more promising than on the previous day. This time Riiber was not one minute in the lead after the jumping, but had to catch up with Lamparter, Geiger and Co. Over the 10 kilometers an exciting race developed after a larger group had already formed at the front after a short time. Especially over the last few hundred meters and the steepest climb, the fight for the podium places intensified. In the end, “Jo” fought his way to second place behind Vinzenz Geiger and ahead of Jørgen Graabak.

So everything was set for an exciting final of the Nordic Combined Triple on Sunday. This could not be endangered even by another cancellation of the jumping due to wind. According to the motto “all good things come in threes”, double world champion Johannes Lamparter also started from 4th place on the third day. Relatively quickly a three-way fight between Johannes Lamparter, Jarl Magnus Riiber and Jørgen Graabak developed for the triple victory. At the last climb Riiber let go and a thrilling duel for the victory developed – “Jo” had to admit defeat to the Triple winner Graabak only shortly before the finish line.

With this second place in the overall ranking of the Nordic Combined Triple as well as three podium places on three days an extremely successful home World Cup came to an end for the 20-year-old double World Champion! The young Tyrolean once again showed top performances and an incredible fighting spirit. Especially in the cross-country skiing Johannes Lamparter could underline his strong form with the fastest, second-fastest and third-fastest time. Keep it up, Jo!

In addition, with the successful weekend in Seefeld, Johannes also managed to extend his lead in the overall World Cup, where he is now 147 points ahead of Jarl Magnus Riiber.

Double world champion Johannes Lamparter presents a new video project

Double world champion Johannes Lamparter realized an intense video project in Seefeld in December. Under the title “My Signature Move”, the Nordic Combined athlete presents himself and his sport with impressive images.

Johannes Lamparter: “The shooting in Seefeld was extremely cool, the pictures are sensational!  I think it’s also something good for my sport, the film really makes you excited about the Nordic Combined.”

Patrick Murnig: “This video is sensational and absolutely unique in Nordic Combined. We and the film team have succeeded in presenting the Nordic Combined and one of its best representatives as it really is: exciting, thrilling, fast and extremely challenging.”

Johannes Lamparter took the sole lead in the overall World Cup last weekend in Klingenthal with two victories. With the yellow bib, the 20-year-old from Rum fulfilled a childhood dream. He will wear the bib of the overall World Cup leader for the first time in his career at his home World Cup, the Nordic Combined Triple, in Seefeld.

First World Cup victory for double World Champion Johannes Lamparter

The new year could not start better for double World Champion Johannes Lamparter. The 20-year-old Tyrolean won in Val di Fiemme a World Cup event for the first time in his career. The base for his success was laid by “Jo” with his jumping victory already on the hill. With the day’s highest distance of 105.5 meters on the normal hill in Val di Fiemme, he already secured a 14-second lead over his competitors.

Subsequently, he managed to keep his pursuers – first and foremost the two Germans Vinzenz Geiger and Eric Frenzel – successfully at a distance and even extended his lead. In a very tough race Johannes Lamparter proved once again that he knows how to manage his strength well and was therefore able to defend himself against the attacks of the opponents, who in the meantime had closed the gap to 8 seconds. With a lead of 16 seconds Johannes Lamparter finally crossed the finish line in first place, where he was very happy about the next milestone in his still young career.

The following day he was able to confirm his good form with another podium finish. Overall, the 20-year-old holds one victory as well as four second places this season, which is an impressive achievement in an extremely complex sport like Nordic Combined. Next weekend Johannes Lamparter continues with two competitions in Klingenthal.

A special 70th Four Hills Tournament has come to an end

The 70th edition of the Four Hills Tournament was again without a doubt a very unique and special one. From a sporting point of view, the focus for Michael Hayböck was on his comeback just three months after his disk surgery. For Stefan Kraft the focus was on getting more consistent after a mediocre summer preparation and some ups and downs in the course of the season so far. For the people in charge, the weather and the current Corona situation were challenging. Therefore, unfortunately – as in the previous year – no spectators could be allowed and the mascots “Fin and Claw” had to keep their fingers crossed in front of the TV.

Stefan Kraft

With one individual victory, two third places and one team victory, the 28-year-old from Salzburg arrived in Oberstdorf at a hill where he has already won two 4 Hills competetions as well as World Championship gold. Despite the previous successes, this tournament was under different circumstances. Due to a toe injury and torn ligaments in the ankle in the summer, the preparation did not go according to plan, the amount of training had to be significantly reduced. Even though Stefan Kraft has already achieved top jumps and top results occasionally this season, he is still looking for consistency.

Nevertheless, “Krafti” started the 70th edition of the Four Hills Tournament with solid jumps and a top 15 place in Oberstdorf. In Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where Stefan Kraft had already struggled in recent years, he unfortunately failed to qualify. However, Kraft did not let this get him down. After a training session on his “youth hill” in Seefeld, he took the opportunity to go cross-country skiing and curling on the rest day to clear his head. After no jumping could take place at the Bergisel due to wind, Kraft showed a fighting performance in difficult conditions with 23rd and 24th places in Bischofshofen. In a third World Cup event in Bischofshofen after the Tournament, he managed another improvement by jumping into the top 20.

Stefan Kraft is now taking a break from the World Cup and, in order to clear his head, will not travel to Zakopane. He will be training in calmness and will keep on pursuing his way continuously.

Michael Hayböck

For Michael Hayböck the 70th Four Hills Tournament started as part of the national group at the Bergisel. Just three months earlier, the 30-year-old underwent surgery for severe pain, numbness in his left leg and a slipped disk. Afterwards, a precise plan was set so that Michi could return to the World Cup as soon as possible. Many steps and patient work followed to be able to be part of the World Cup again after only 12 weeks! After a resting phase, walks and light trunk training, the first steps to full physical strain followed, until the Upper Austrian finally stood on the hill again for the first time in December. Due to the wind-related cancellation of the Bergisel jumping, the narrowly missed qualification was no longer a factor. This gave “Michi” two new chances in Bischofshofen, where he celebrated his first World Cup victory 7 years ago.

Michael Hayböck used this opportunity directly for himself. After good training performances, the 30-year-old also managed two very good jumps in the competition, with which he finished in a great 9th place in his comeback! The following day he confirmed his successful return to the World Cup with a 22nd place.

These two results show that the hard work in the last weeks really paid off. For Michael Hayböck it is now important to continue to work step by step, to regenerate well and to continue to take good care of his body, because the “missed” training weeks can still be noticed. Next on the agenda for “Michi” is Zakopane, where he will return to the World Cup.

Overall, the 70th Four Hills Tournament brought some ups and downs, cool jumps and difficult challenges for Stefan Kraft and Michael Hayböck. Despite the present Corona situation and the postponement of the Bergisel jumping to Bischofshofen, a unique and special tour came to a worthy end with Ryoyu Kobayashi’s second tour victory. However, what was also particularly missing this year were the thousands of fans who always provided a great mood and a unique atmosphere. The excitement is therefore enormous for a coming tour with its fans, colors, brilliant performances and icons of ski jumping.

The home World Cup 2021 in Ramsau

For the ski jumpers as well as for the Nordic combined athletes the last World Cup weekend before Christmas was on the program in Ramsau. Like last year, the home World Cups for Johannes Lamparter and Chiara Kreuzer unfortunately took place without an audience.

The women’s ski jumping competition started on Friday, December 17. Unfortunately, the competition did not go according to plan for Chiara Kreuzer, who missed the second round. With the upcoming Christmas break, however, there is now the opportunity to rest and recharge for the next part of the season.

Johannes Lamparter had a much better weekend. After a 17th place in the jumping round, the double world champion showed his skills with a strong running performance. With the overall third fastest run time of the day, “Jo” made up place after place in the cross-country skiing. Even a small fall in the downhill could not stop the 20-year-old. In the fight for the podium, Lamparter only had to admit defeat in the photo finish. Therefore, he finished the competition in a strong fourth place and only missed a possible fourth podium this season by a hair’s breadth.

On Sunday Johannes Lamparter presented himself similarly strong in the cross-country with the fourth best run time after he did not get beyond a 26th place on the hill. As on the previous day, the 20-year-old fought his way forward in cross-country skiing and in the end just missed the top 10 by a few seconds. After this successful start to the season with three podium finishes already, Johannes Lamparter has absolutely earned his Christmas break.

The Nordic Combined will continue in Val di Fiemme in January. For Chiara Kreuzer there is already a first season highlight after Christmas with the “New Year Tournament” in Ljubno.

Coaching meeting at the start of the season in the Red Bull Arena Salzburg

Shortly before the start of the new winter season Patrick Murnig brought the 4 World Cup athletes together for a group coaching meeting in the Red Bull Arena. Bronze medal winner Michael Hayböck, team World Champion Chiara Kreuzer, double World Champion Johannes Lamparter and World Champion Stefan Kraft worked together with their coach on the final details to be ready for their personal challenges in the first part of the World Cup season. Like other successful athletes from various sports in the past, the four also benefit from Patrick’s special coaching approach, which focuses on personality development, values and the US in addition to athletic development.

Afterwards, Johannes Lamparter and Stefan Kraft headed to the Salzburger Nachrichten. There, a unique talk was recorded together with the two world champions from two different sports. Among other things, the two talked about their shared journey, the upcoming Olympic season and the qualities of each other. In the evening, Kraft and Lamparter were featured on “Sport und Talk im Hangar 7” on ServusTV with a final preview of the upcoming season.

This were the Austrian Championships 2021 for the JumpandReach family

Last weekend the Austrian Championships of the Ski Jumpers and Nordic Combined Athletes took place in Tyrol in fantastic autumn weather. The JumpandReach family was represented by Stefan Kraft, Johannes Lamparter, Christian Deuschl and Dominik Terzer, who showed good performances.

The competition weekend started on Saturday for all with jumps on the normal hill in Stams. For the nordic combined athletes it continued on the roller track in Seefeld in bright sunshine. There, Johannes Lamparter was able to secure the silver medal with the second place and thus also the vice austrian championship title.

On Sunday followed the large hill competition at the Bergisel. Stefan Kraft was able to win the bronze medal. The Nordic Combined athletes ended the 2021 Austrian Championships with the ski rolling in Fulpmes, where Johannes Lamparter was able to win a second silver medal.

Also the combined youngsters Christian Deuschl and Dominik Terzer convinced with cool performances on both days. All in all, a great weekend that makes us look forward to the coming winter with excitement.

Johannes Lamparter wins “Niki” as Rising Star of the Year

Johannes Lamparter was awarded the “Niki” at the celebratory Lotterien Sporthilfe Gala in Vienna on October 14th, after sports fans voted him “Rising Star of the Year”. The 19-year-old nordic combined athlete came out on top against biathlon world champion Lisa Hauser and Olympic cycling champion Anna Kiesenhofer. The award also caused great joy among the JumpandReach family, who attended the gala together and enjoyed the great evening in Vienna.

After the flurry of flashbulbs at the “Golden Carpet” and numerous interviews of interested journalists with Johannes Lamparter and Chiara Kreuzer, they took their seats at the JumpandReach table and nothing stood in the way of a fine, cozy evening away from the hustle and bustle of everyday sports life.

In addition to the “Niki” for Johannes Lamparter, the JumpandReach family could be happy about the 2nd place for Chiara Kreuzer with the team world champions in ski jumping and 3rd place for Lamparter in the world champion duo with Greiderer – behind the winner FC Red Bull Salzburg.

Johannes Lamparter: “It’s just really cool and a great honor that so many fans voted for me as rising star of the year. I had a really great year and all the awards are just a confirmation that things are going in a good direction. I’m very happy and grateful about that.”
