It is still hard to believe: Mario Seidl wins as first Austrian athlete the Nordic Combined Triple in Chaux Neuve. After his first weltcup victory in November 2018 in Ruka with a jump over 145.5m and an overwhelming performance in the cross-country ski run, the 26 year old also shows a top-performance in Chaux Nueve.
Even though Franz-Josef Rehrl gained the victory in the first two competitions, Seidl was able to gain the head start with 37 seconds before his roommate. Seidl therefore started the cross-country ski run followed by Rehrl, Espen Bjoernstad and Fabian Riessle. During the whole time of the run Seidl was able to keep his head position and therefore accomplished a start-finish victory. An incredible performance of the young Tyrolian, which makes us look tensely forward to the world championships in Seefeld.
Mario Seidl: “I had the perfect starting position and was able to place myself on the cross-country ski run. At the end of the run I had enough power to keep Franz-Josef Rehrl on distance. The crossing of the finfish line was just to enjoy. Standing together on the podium with my friend Franz-Josef Rehrl has always been our goal, which we made true today.”
