Under the slogan of a „sportive understanding among nations“ some of the world’s best ski jumpers met this year already for the fifth time to an amicable golf competition – for the third time now at the golf club Zillertal Uderns in Tyrol.
The Austrian ski jumpers Stefan Kraft and Michael Hayböck challenged together with their systemic coach Patrick Murnig and their team colleagues Manuel Fettner and coach Andi Felder the Norwegians Daniel Johann Andre Forfang, Anders Fannemel, Olympic champion Maren Lundby, Robert Johansson and their coach Alexander Stöckl.
And also this year for the first time the American and Canadian ski jumpers as team “North America” around Kevin Bickner (USA), Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes (CAN) and their coach Bine Norcic.

The idea was born at a cosy get-together during wintertime from Patrick Murnig and Alex Stöckl, where they had the idea of meeting during summer – to compete in other sports. Of course the athletes couldn’t completely leave aside the competitive thought also on the golf course. Nevertheless, the fun and amicable exchange between sportsmen and trainers of all nations were in the foreground and therefore all participants spent an amusing day off of the usual rush in winter.
This year the Norwegians around Johann Andre Forfang and Anders Fannemel took the trophy for the first time and are looking forward to revenge on the hill.
Alexander Stöckl: „Unfortunately, I do not have the time to play golf that often, but it has given a lot of pleasure to play against my long-standing friend and coach Patrick. For the athletes it is a really good offset to the daily training. And the golf course and the surroundings here in Uderns are absolutely brilliant. Of course I am happy that we could leave as the “winner” today – and the team is delighted too.”
Patrick Murnig: „What a great day! The ski jumpers and also their coaches could inter-exchange a little bit and obviously had a lot of fun playing golf together respectively against each other. It is great to see, that those ski jumping nations get on so well at and besides the jumping hill and take the time for a friendly but nevertheless competitive get-together here at the Golfclub Zillertal Uderns.”
